Took this idea from the StarQuest board. Simply state what vehicle you learned to drive a stick on. Year, make, model and a pic if you have one. Technically I learned the basics on my buddies 76 Chevy Monza. But my first manual was a 1986 Mitsubishi Mirage that I bought in 1991. It was a 4 speed and it had 40k miles and no power what so ever. Got great gas mileage though. I don't have a pic of my exact car, but it look just like this one:

For me, it was dirt bikes. First car was my buddies Plymouth laser. Then, I bought my laser which was the first stick car I owned.

I learned on my friends 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. The first manual transmission vehicle I owned was my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT.

I learned on my old 94 Celica. Wouldn't mind getting another one to save on gas, thing was slow but did get pretty darn good mileage.

I learned when I was 18, on a 2001 Saturn SL1. My girlfriend at the time had a couple too many to drink. So I offered to walk over and drive her car back. I was in college, it wasn't like a super far walk. She didn't tell me it was a manual, nor did she know I didn't know how to drive one. So she's 1/2 in the tank trying to teach me to drive a manual. And of course it's a small town with a lot of stop signs. It must have taken us the better part of 20 minutes to go 2 miles.

Truly learned on a 5-speed clutched four wheeler, after that it was my sisters 94' VW Jetta, they never drove it because they hated driving stick. Once I turned 17 I started looking for a car to buy and went to about 5 or 6 different dealerships and took out a bunch of different 5-6 speeds to get the feel of other cars. Then I bought my 95' Talon and have progressed my manual driving skills ever since.

1960 Willy's CJ5 - 3 speed That would be a fun vehicle to learn on. It's the perfect vehicle to learn on. Other than being totally badass (8,xxx original miles, OE Hurricane 134cu.in. engine producing a neck-snapping 74 hp @ 4,000 rpm, etc.), you throw the thing in low range and it literally can't be stalled. Pop the clutch with zero throttle and it just goes.

I had two that I had to learn how to drive and one was very forgiving the other not so much. A 79 F-150 4spd and an 88 1/2 escort hatch, I don't remember if it was a 4 or 5 speed. The truck was a tank, and the car was great on mileage. neither one was fancy, but they worked well for learning.

My brother's 1996 Accord when I was about 17-ish. It was a fun car at that age. But I think any car at that age is fun. Learned a lot about a car just from that car. Good memories!
